The first collaboration between Seiko and Brian May, the extraordinary guitarist of Queen, was born in January 2020.
The British artist and the Seiko brand have jointly developed a special series of the Seiko 5 Sports.
The new chapter of the partnership takes the form of a new limited edition model, the Seiko 5 Sports Brian May Limited Edition with ref. SRPH80K1.
Following the successful collaboration with Queen guitarist Brian May in 2020, Seiko is proud to launch a new limited edition watch with the acclaimed musician, with only 12,500 pieces available worldwide.
Brian has been wearing a Seiko diving watch for over 40 years, purchased on his first trip to Japan in the 1970s.
Since then, his guitar and her watch have traveled the world together, making great music and keeping time.

The proceeds from the sale of the watch will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and their manager Jim Beach in memory of Freddie Mercury, iconic singer of the rock band Queen.

The CASE:
The Seiko 5 Sports x Brian May 'Red Special ii' SRPH80K1 features a 40mm pvd gold-plated stainless steel case.
A black unidirectional rotating countdown bezel sits atop the case and features a gold 60-minute scale.
The walls of the bezel are minted, which allows it to be rotated easily.
The crown is positioned at 4 o'clock so as to avoid digging into the wearer's wrist; it is flanked by two crown protectors.

The dial:
As the first watch recreates the design of his famous electric guitar. “Red Special” was handcrafted from scratch by the guitarist and his father.
The handle was carved from the wood of an old fireplace, while the body was made of strips with an old oak insert and covered with a mahogany veneer that Brian dyed and polished.

The strap:
Another novelty of the new Seiko 5 Sports x Brian May is the braided nylon strap with golden vertical stripes reminiscent of guitar strings.
The red glass on the back of the watch features Brian May's signature and the words Limited Edition in gold paint, and an engraved serial number 00001/12500 on the metal.
This special series is in fact produced in a limited series of 12,500 numbered copies, a greater quantity than the previous series, offered in 9,000 units.
